NDRRA Restoration Works Packages
Severe weather events extensively damaged 65 kilometres
of Isaac Regional Council’s road network. The $4.2 million restorative works to the region’s public assets was made possible by the jointly funded Commonwealth-State NDRRA program. Council awarded the multimillion dollar contract to Epoca Constructions.
OVERVIEW
The major government-funded road project has seen 65 kimometres across 94 sections of Isaac roads restored. The project is expected to reach completion in June 2018 and will cover over 100 sites on roads ranging from remote rural to more heavily trafficked main roads.
PROJECT SCOPE
Seven road teams were mobilised to work on sites around Clermont, Middlemount, Dysart, Moranbah, St Lawrence and Glenden. Carried out over a four-month period, the works included restoration of unsealed roads, reconstruction of sealed roads and reconstruction of drainage structures.
Typical treatments included gravel road resheeting and formation grading, pavement repairs, repair of scour damage to road formation, table drains, culvert structures, reconstruction of causeways and floodways throughout arterial, major collector, major local, minor local and local access roads within the Isaac Regional Council locality.
KEY CHALLENGES
- Remote area works.
- Co-ordinating works across over 100 regional roads.
